У дні війни, коли надії плетуться навколо відродження світлого майбутнього, Україна вже не вперше переживає вогненні випробування. У такі моменти народ обирає віру та надію, віддаючи свою долю в руки тих, хто мужньо стоїть на захисті рідної землі. Серед багатьох величних сторінок історії українського війська особливе місце належить битві під Батогом 1652 року, пише сайт yes-vinnytsia.com.ua.
Коли відбулася битва та хто був очільником?
Битва під Батогом, що розгорнулася 22–23 травня (1–2 червня за новим стилем) 1652 року, унікальна своєю вражаючою масштабністю та героїзмом наших воїнів. У цьому епічному протистоянні союзна армія Війська Запорозького та Кримського Ханства, під керівництвом видатного Богдана Хмельницького, стала обличчям спротиву проти величезного війська Речі Посполитої, якою командував Марцін Калиновський. Битва під Батогом вважається ключовою точкою в історії Хмельниччини, завершившись перемогою союзників.
Місце цієї великої події — східна могила піднесеного села Четвертинівки в Тростянецькому районі Вінниччини. Тут, під горою Батіг, українці вибороли славу та визволення. Пам’ять про цей героїчний вчинок стала вічною, нагадуючи про те, як відвага та рішучість можуть визначити майбутнє вільної і незалежної України.
Передісторія або “шлюбна дипломатія” – яка причина битви під Батогом
Після трагічної події під Берестечком та укладання Білоцерківського миру 1651 року Річ Посполита, здавалося, відновила свою зрушену стійкість. Шляхта знову розташовувалася у своїх маєтках, а коронне військо перейняло контроль над Брацлавщиною та Чернігівщиною – територіями, які згідно угоди повинні були бути передані козаками. Однак те, що здавалося “затишшям”, виявилося лише підготовкою до нового етапу війни.
На сцені нового зіткнення вийшла “шлюбна дипломатія”. У 1650 році було домовлено, що Тиміш, старший син Богдана Хмельницького, одружиться на Розанді, дочці молдавського господаря Василя Лупула. Але після поразки козаків під Берестечком тесть втратив бажання згадувати про цей союз. Саме тому навесні 1652 року Тиміш вирушив із великим військом до Молдови, щоб переконати Лупула у важливості виконання угоди та утримання весілля. Однак цьому шлюбові стали на заваду поляки, оскільки вони розглядали його як загрозу для власних інтересів. Укладення цього союзу сильно підірвало б заведений порядок, зміцнюючи зв’язки між Гетьманщиною та Молдовою та піднімаючи статус роду Хмельницьких. Щоб завадити цьому союзові, корпус коронного польського гетьмана Марціна Калиновського відіграв важливу роль, розташовуючись під горою Батіг. На допомогу своєму сину Богдан Хмельницький вирушив із 35-тисячним козацьким військом та 20-тисячним татарським підкріпленням, очолюваним Карач-беєм. Цей епізод став однією із найзагадковіших сторінок історії великої родини Хмельницьких та їхніх складних політичних інтриг.
Битва під Батогом – помста за поразку під Берестечком. Про бій та наслідки
22 та 23 травня гетьман Богдан Хмельницький продемонстрував винятковий військовий талант, вдосконалено командуючи кількома військовими формуваннями. Табір Марціна Калиновського опинився в оточенні. Його війська були розгромлені, а сам коронний гетьман жахливо загинув.. Ця перемога під Батогом та наступна облога Кам’янця-Подільського вразили молдавського господаря настільки, що він ухвалив рішення погодитися на шлюб своєї дочки Розанди з Тимошем Хмельницьким. Подія також дозволила козакам відновити контроль над Брацлавщиною та Чернігівщиною, що було закріплено Зборівським миром 1649 року. Вони навіть мали змогу здійснювати рейди на Західне Поділля та Волинь.
Тяжка поразка під Берестечком примусила Богдана Хмельницького підписати Білоцерківський договір із польським урядом. Згідно з угодою, визнавалися лише землі Київського воєводства як козацька територія. Варто зазначити, що зменшився козацький реєстр до двадцяти тисяч осіб, а шляхта отримала право на повернення до своїх маєтків на ці території. Проте сейм, що весною 1652 року сходився, не схвалив Білоцерківський договір через вето одного зі шляхтичів. У квітні того ж року Хмельницький оголосив універсалом підготовку до нового військового конфлікту. Спроба армії під командуванням гетьмана Мартина Калиновського завадити походу Тимоша Хмельницького до Молдови, який намагався укласти шлюб із Розандою, стала фактором, що визначив новий етап напружених подій, про що було зазначено вище.
20-тисячне польське військо, яке складалося з 12 тисяч гусарської кінноти, 8 тисяч піхоти та 10 тисяч озброєних слуг, чекало на підкріплення під горою Батіг на березі Південного Бугу. Його табір розташувався поруч із містом Ладижин, неподалік від сучасного села Четвертинівка у Вінницькій області. 29 травня, відразу після прибуття основних сил Богдана Хмельницького, табір польської армії опинився в оточенні, несподівано зустрівши татарську кінноту та козаків. 1 червня 1652 року після прибуття основних сил козацького гетьмана польський табір був оточений, а 2 червня розпочався штурм.
Початкова атака татар була відбита, але загін Івана Богуна взяв верх і прорвав польську оборону. Паніка серед полонених, що втікали через Буг, і пожежа в таборі допомогли козакам та татарам проникнути в нього. До вечора армія Калиновського була повністю розгромлена, а сам він загинув разом із своїм сином Самуелем. В основному, більшість поляків зазнали великих втрат, включаючи 8 тисяч загиблих, половину гусар, численну знать та шляхту, а також 7 тисяч слуг, багато з яких потрапили в полон. Незважаючи на це, сейм Речі Посполитої відмовився відновити Зборівську угоду 1649 року, яка розширювала межі Гетьманщини. Наслідком цього було зростання численності польської армії, створення нових кінних корогов і розгортання каральної експедиції Брацлавщиною в березні 1653 року, під час якої гасло “Не лишати русина і на розплід!” стало керівним принципом.
Ціна перемоги у битві
Липень у Глинянах, під Львовом, запам’ятався надзвичайною подією, яка переплела долі України та Польщі в вогні та боротьбі. За пів року коронне військо, ведене Яном II Казимиром, зосереджувалося в цьому регіоні, але основоположний момент настав, коли армія становила табір поблизу Жванця на Дністрі. На жаль, в жовтні, блокована 40-тисячною козацько-татарською армією, їй бракувало сил для вирішальної битви. Роль посередника, як і раніше під Зборовом, взяв на себе хан Іслам Гірей ІІІ.
Після тривалих дебатів, 17 грудня, він домігся відновлення сплати упоминків і дозволу брати ясир на території Корони до Вісли. Однак Зборівський договір не вдалося відновити. Хмельницький, ймовірно, вирішив випробувати вдачу з іншим союзником, якого вважав більш надійним. 11 жовтня 1653 року Земський собор Московського царства прийняв Військо Запорізьке з «городами і землями» під «государя високу руку». Це рішення відкрило шлях до Переяславської ради.
Та ця перемога мала свою ціну. Українці дорого заплатили за свою незалежність. Битва під Батогом стала не лише героїчною сторінкою в історії України, але й трагічним розділом українсько-польських взаємин. Жорстокість під час Хмельниччини торкнулася обох сторін і це не повинно бути забутим, адже подібні трагедії більше ніколи не мають статися. Триста шістдесят п’ять років тому Батізька перемога привела до фактичної денонсації невигідного для козаків Білоцерківського мирного договору. Володіння Війська Запорозького знову розширилися Польська шляхта тікала з України, а в Яссах 31 серпня 1652 року все ж було укладено шлюб Тимофія Хмельницького і Розанди Лупул. У такий спосіб, Молдовське князівство розірвало союз із Польщею. Проте козаки не змогли організувати військовий похід на захід України та Варшаву, за поширеною версією, через епідемію чуми в Галичині та на Волині.
